Henderson High School would like to cordially invite you to our Henderson Lion Showdown speech and debate meet. This UIL speech and debate meet will be held Saturday, October 1st, 2022.

EVENTS: All UIL Speech and Debate events will be offered.

REGISTRATION: Please register at www.tabroom.com for speech and debate events.

DEADLINES: All entries are due online by Wednesday, September 28th, 2022 at 4:00 PM. You may change names after this date, BUT drops made after Thursday, September 29th, 2022 at 4:00 PM will result in the loss of your entry fee.

 JUDGING: You must supply a judge for every event in which your school is entered. If you do not provide a judge your students will not be graded.

For debate,

1 judge for every 4 LD contestants

1 judge for every two CX teams or part thereof

1 judge for every 6 Prose/Poetry/Extemp/Congress Contestants

Judging fees are $150/judge for debate and speaking events if you do not provide a judge, however, we prefer judges over fees.

AT MINIMUM, speech/debate team coaches MUST serve as judges

ENTRY FEES:

CX Entries: $30.00/team

LD Entries: $15.00

Congress Entry: $15.00

Speech Events: $10

AWARDS: Medals will be awarded for the top 6 places in each event.

OTHER INFORMATION:

EXTEMP: All current UIL rules related to the disabling of Wi-Fi or other internet access must be followed.

UIL CX: Resolved: The United States federal government should substantially increase its security cooperation with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization in one or more of the following areas: artificial intelligence, biotechnology, cybersecurity.

UIL LD: Resolved:  Amateur status ought to be valued above commodification of Name Image Likeness.

Congress: We will use the TFA FAll 2022 docket with the following parameters for prelims and finals. 

PRELIM Round we will be using Items 1-10

FINALS round we will utilize items 11-20.

Poetry & Prose: Selections will be the reader's choice.
